Before deciding whether or not to go out and purchase a blu-ray player, it's probably a good idea to have at least a basic understanding of what blu-ray is.
Blu-ray was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video and for the storing of large amounts of data. With blu-ray, you can store more than five times the amount of data that can be stored with traditional DVDs. You can store up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.
Rest assured that it is only a matter of time that blu-ray will replace traditional DVDs. Blu-ray has received broad support from the major movie studios as a successor to today's DVD format.
Visit Blu-ray.com if you would like additional information on movie titles currently being offered on blu-ray or if you would like more information on blu-ray in general (e.g. DVD players, movies, media, news, etc.)
